is there a clear winner here? i'm about to buy one of them, and i don't know if there's any reason to buy a serrated one.

it will be used mostly for general EDC, but will also be my backup skinner.

thoughts?

I have a combo version as one of my garage blades. I like the teeth for more aggressive cutting needs.

Get them while you can. Both are disco'd for 2012.

the JYD2 is to be disco'd? even the CB version?

as to the OP. i'd snag the composite blade version. CPM-D2 is good steel.

I like my plain edge for edc and skinning. If I was using it for more heavy duty, i'd go serrated.

Get the plain edge!!!! I have the standard and the CB and they are fantastic! The standard can be convexed into a ridiculously sharp edge.

In general, I agree with the suggestion to get a plain edge, but I live around a farm, and often the main cutting needs for me are tape, branches, zipties, and brambles. for that, I would rather have the serrations. In that case, I would suggest getting the serrations if you are really going to use it, but if not, then get the plain edge.

well i ended up going with the plain blade.

put in the order last night, so i should have it before the end of the week. That'll make my 3rd kershaw... i wonder how long that'll keep me satisfied
