I was wondering if the epoxy made by K@G is any good and if anyone has used if so what kind on bond have you gotten with it,
thanks

It is a good quality adhesive. However, in its normal form it is a cream color and can leave a visible line between scales, spacers, bolts, pins, etc. For that reason I quit using it and went back to the clear epoxies.

I *think* they just buy shafting epoxy from golfsmith.com and put it in smaller bottles. When I make a sheath knife, that is what I use. This is great stuff. Can you imagine the kind of abuse the head of a golf club gets?

I have been using the K & G epoxy about a year and I believe that it is better than the 2 ton I was using. They have coloring powder to match the handle material and since I try to have a smooth fit before gluing, I don't see the thin line.

One thing that I found out by accident is that it will wash off with water while still tacky. I have been using a piece of stainless to mix it on ever since. :). I would highly recomend it for any ones use.

I do wait till the next day before taking of the clamps and grinding.

I've been useing this same epoxy for about 10 years.
I have never seen it fall. It will was off with soap and
water until it is pretty well set up. Complete cure time
is 24-36 hours but you can remove and work any pieces
in about 12 hours. I buy mine by 2 one gallon cans direct from
the manufacure but you may not want to spend that much money.
If you fear that you may have a problem with it showing up there
are many colorants that you can use as has already been suggested. You won't be disapointed with this product!

I have seen the coloring powder they have,I know it is tough once it gets hard I will have to give it a turn I am new and I am in the testing time to see what I am going to stick with.I will get a blade done sooner or later,I want my first effert to be a good one
thanks for all the input every thing helps when you are new at it
Thanks Nathan
;)

Stay with the Black colorant and you will be alright. I use Fiberglass colorant just barely a drop will work for a whole handles worth of Epoxy.

i use the k&g stuff and its my favorite. i like the consistantce, it is thicker than the devcon stuff so i does'nt squezze out so easy. allso i use loveless type bolts and with a lanyard it gives me enough time to do four to five handles at a time without sweating that the epoxy is getting hard and one of the handles desides not to cooperate.

I have used K&G epoxy, and it does a excellent job.
However, Conap epoxy sold by Sheffield does just as good a job, and is much easier to use. The K&G epoxy I bought several years ago, comes in two jars and is mixed in a ratio of one teaspoon from one jar with seven eights of a teaspoon from the other jar. The Conap epoxy comes in a large tube and a small tube. You put equal lengths from the large tube and small tube together, mix, and thats it.
By the way, Conap is what Bob Loveless uses. I have used Conap for over 20 years and have been very pleased. It comes in clear, white, and black. The black works great for moaisic pins.
The Sheffield catalog number for the clear conap epoxy is K-20

I buy mine from a local marine supplier and use hyperdermic serenges (can't spell Cat without an K). Makes measuring easy.
