K.I.S.S. Folder?

I gave one to my 13 year old a few years ago. I never used it and neither does he. It's a pretty schitty excuse for a knife.

Got one - went to cut something with it and it folded on me ( no blood). Caryed for less than a hour. Gave it to friend with a warning about the lock's limitations - far as I know he's still using it. Different slices for different guys.

I sort of like it. Interesting design, decent quality (poor materials but smooth action and good fitting), and a variety of models. Obviously not meant for heavy-duty use, but might be just the thing for a 'modern' casual carry pocketknife for someone on a budget.

CRKT makes some decent models but the K.I.S.S. series is definitely something you want to stay away from. They're made with lousy steel and the chisel grind is hell to sharpen. A hard grip on the knife will also cause the lock to release - I have the scar on my hand to prove it.

I don't have a KISS, I have a PECK.

The retaining screw between the frame and the blade loosens, so there is a blade wobble.
You must tighten it again and again.
The blade comes out of the lock if you side tension it, worse if the blade is loose. You must not twist with the knife, it closes on you!
Chisel grind is very easy to sharpen.

I would not recomend the PECK.
There are many much better and safer knives out there

I have a K.I.S.S. and use it in rotation with a CRKT Turtle as a money clip. Mine locks up like a bank vault and stays sharp nicely.

I like the K.I.S.S. I have. I travel a lot. Since I can't carry it on the plane (unless I take the corporate jet), I stash it in the shaving kit in my checked baggage. It stays sharp and is very corrosion resistant. It's light and performs "light duty" cutting chores like a champ.

It's the essence of the blade, but at least for me, completely unusefull. Had one of the first model sold here and while cutting something thikker than a pencil it tried to close on my thingers. Like audiophile had benn lucky: no blood. But I suddenly realized than while cutting the barrel that acts like the blades stop tend to bent...and you arw done. Gave it away, with caution advise.

I have had mine for about 2 or 3 years now. Not a bad little knife. Not for any serious work but works fine for opening boxes cutting string and other light duty tasks. Unique design when it first came out. I like it for what it is.

Edit: Makes for a nice money clip too.

PKD---"I like it for what it is." Well said. I'm carrying my Samson K.i.S.S. at the moment. AG Russell stated that the K.I.S.S. was his companies all-time best selling folder.

I reached in my pocket to grab my KISS while using it as a money clip. When I pulled it out it was partially open! Also it closed on me while using it but somehow did not get cut. Definatly do not like the KISS! It now lays in a drawer.
