K-Mart knife sale

I do not know whether K-Mart runs the same promotions nationwide, but the K-Marts in SC are running all knives for 20% off this week. I picked up two Buck 110's in blisterpacks, with nylon pouches for $24 each (regular $29.99). I think this is a great deal for new 110's. I opened one and it is a 2005 knife with the Idaho year mark. If you are looking for a new 110, you might want to check the sales inserts from your Sunday paper or run by your local K-Mart.

Edited to add, it is interesting that the package lists a leather pouch, whereas the package actually contains the nylon version. Also interesting is the pouch is marked for a Buck 426, rather than 110.

...Hmmmm...Didn't Sears just buy out K-Mart??? I think I read that my Sears card is good at K-Mart now... :D

...If there's any K-Marts left around here... :grumpy:

Actually, K-Mart recently bought Sears. If you have some Sears stores around you, they might be carrying the K-Mart 20%-off sale, too.

I've got a K-Mart down the street. I may take a look over there tonight. I really like buying Buck Knives at a discount!

Thats a great price. The 29.95 regular price at K-Mart is the best I've ever seen on new 110s. Almost every other place I've seen it goes for 39.95.

No Kmart around here. :(

We have a Sears Grand or whatever that new thing is called, but I didn't find any knives.

The regular Sears here seems to have gotten rid of their knives too. They used to have those reddish-wood slipjoints and lockbacks (from Camillus I am sure, though some people are saying they are Schrades on ebay). Now it's just Leathermans.

Thank you for the tip! Yes, NYS K-Marts are having the 20% sale this week; I just picked up a 110 today (see Carl64's "Corroded 110's in clam-pack" thread for notes).

They did take my Sears card, which for some strange reason the monthly statement always says "Minimum amount due = 0" which I've always found strange since I send in $25/month anyway (I probably buy at least one tool a month) and I've had this card since sometime in the 70's...

Anyway, Thank You! $23.95 is a decent price on a 110! :D

I thought $30 was a deal for a 110, but 24? Dang you lucky people.

Too bad you can't ever get deals like that on the 112 or 110 with finger grooves. I was just playing with my old 426 Bucklite and I am thinking the finger grooves are really nice. I didn't like them on the 112 bucklight because the handle also curved in too much, but it's OK on the 110 handle. Custom shop, here I come...

Anyone have a BG42 Buck? Buck makes BG42 a little harder than s30v, so I am thinking about that option.

I have a PCKS 110 , a Vangard and a 119 in BG42 and they are GREAT! I do believe they are hardened to about 60,which is close to what they are doing with S30V. I think the difference is in the steel itself.

I'll second the vote for BG42. Have a custom 110 in that steel, and it is top notch.

Also agree with the comment about finger-grooved 110s never going on sale. I finally just bought an older one on eBay with the finger grooves. It has 425M steel and is in very nice shape with good wood. May send it in for S30V blade change if that ever becomes at option at the custom shop.

Watch Bass Pro and Cabelas. They have their FG at a pretty good price usually. Not the $30 ,but not too high. Buck does alot of stuff for both of them.

I checked-out my local Big K-Mart and Sears stores, last night, and neither of them seem to be having a 20%-off sale on their knives. Of course, both stores seemed pretty unorganized, so, even if they were having a 20%-off sale, I'm not sure that their cashiers or sales personel would've known about it. In addition, neither my local Big K-Mart or Sears stores seem to carry Buck Knives.

The Kmart store that I happened to check in central Ohio only had a 110, metro, minibuck, and I believe a NXT and a Mantis.
The 110 was $32 and change.

That was true of the Niagara Falls NY K-Mart I went to also. Older female clerk, didn't know what a Buck 110 was ("It's *that* one --->"), and seemed surprised when I asked if the 20% sale was applied to the knives...She had to check the price listing, but it checked out and all went OK from there...

Why do they always stick the young men in Housewares and the old ladies in Sporting Goods??? :grumpy:

My local (Colorado Springs) K-Mart had the 20% discount signs on their knife display case. They just didn't have anything that I was interested in.

I just ran by my local K-Mart in Muskogee, OK and bought their last two 110s they had. One was a newer model with the Idaho mark and one was an older model (2003 judging by the "T" mark on the blade). Hard to beat for $23.96 ea.

I'm happy that at least some BladeForums members are finding 20%-off sales at their local K-Marts...I just wish that my local K-Marts were having the sale! :(

I would try printing off the sale ad from K-Mart's website and taking it to the store to see if they will honor it. I've done this before and it's worked for me. Good luck!

That's a great idea, heathah! I think that I'll try it, either tonight or tomorrow, because the 20%-off sale on "Sportsmen's Accessories" is over tomorrow, according to your online circular. I think that I'm also going to try asking one of the K-Mart cashiers where their Sporting Goods Department is located, because I only looked at their "do it yourself" section, the other night.

Thanks again!

I have to admit that I was wrong in the post where I stated that my local Big K-Mart didn't carry Buck Knives. They don't carry them in the "do it yourself" section, but they have them in the Sporting Goods Department. I saw the 110 Folding Hunter , the 119 Special, the Diamondback 4.26, the Mantis, the Odyssey I, the Metro, the MiniLock, and probably a couple more. They also had the Schrade Tool and the Schrade Badger. Strangely enough, all of the knives and multi-tools at my neighboring Big K-Mart store are all blister-packed and are additionally all locked-away in display cases, on top of their "theft preventing" blister packs.

Sure enough, like heathah's K-Mart advertising circular, my Big K-Mart's advertising pages also listed the 20%-off sale of "Sporting Accessories." Since philw also lives in Ohio, I'm surprised that his K-Mart didn't also have the 20%-off sale. Philw, you may want to go back to the K-Mart where you bought your Buck 110 and see if their advertising circular also mentions the 20%-off sale on "Sporting Accessories." You might get $5 back! ;)
