I took delivery of this a few weeks ago, but finally got around to playing with it a bit --- nothing heavy yet, just a little "testing." It looks like this one is a winner  I wasn't sure what to expect for $40, but I am well pleased! Mr Johnson was a gentleman to deal with as well.

Here's a few pics -- I played around with some different leather wraps and very gently burned the haft to add some character.

Now I need to think through how I want to carry this one...

He posts a few at a time in the Makers for sale right?

Looks great!

Any tips on doing those leather wraps?

I bought a couple of his hawks also & I'm pleased with them. I like what you did with the leather & the light burn on the haft. Gives it a nice look.

Yes, but he also takes orders through his website (which is the way I went) and fills them quite fast, maybe a week or so for this one...

As far as the leather wraps --- I measured and precut the piece, then punched the holes and very loosely laced it before I put it on the haft. I put some glue inside the leather and on the haft, then slipped the leather piece on (it got a little messy), and finally tried to tighten the lace (like you would a shoe lace.)

I'm still experimenting and would like to hear some other ideas as well.

Thanks for the compliments. It's not professional quality, but it actually does feel really good in hand

Ya I oogle his site a bit. Its a shock scrolling down. 800 dollars knives...BAM 40 dollar tomahawk.

Well I like the way you did it!
