K45 style

Just got this khuk in the mail the other day. After searching through a couple of different areas, I notated one individual who actually had the same type K-45 style marked DD64 with a broad arrow.

The post was old, so the pics were no longer viable. I know the Arrow could be faked easily....but I thought it was interesting that another khuk. had the DD 64 markings....doesn't seem that any defined conclusion was made about the item.

This K-45 style has only DD64 and an broad arrow....no India whatsoever. I've looked with a loop for any traces but can't find even an partial letter remaining if they tried to erase India or Made In. Seems like all I've found in dealing with AC is that their blades have India on them somewhere.

Just thought I'd share.

Handle looks right. The, shall we say, "reproductions" all seem to come with a "fat" handle -- and no "sweat" marks. Did you try a search on "DD 64"? Did your come with a sheath?

Tom,

I tried DD 64 search and it was too non-specific so I did a K-45 search. Like I said a lot of this was covered a while back but nothing really developed on this thread:
K45 thread

JP also stated in an old thread "The other documented designations were the MK II starting in WW I and the K45 late in WW II. There is also a model number for the current style used since the 60s that comes out of depots in Nepal." I believe he referred to it as a Indian post war K-model.

I'm just wondering if this is one of those models from the 60's and if DD stands from Dhran (sp) or Dehradun.

Unfortuantely Tom, no sheath came with it but I thought about picking on up from AC or I might just keep it naked where it is. I also noticed on some of the repro's that they are only have a single peen on the pommel whereas this has two peens (sp?)

Thanks for the reply,
Steve

Not to take this too far offtrack- but the Laugh In's are available on Trio channel. I've caught a few. Reminds me of a world long ago. A world where we still had the Beatles and the Smothers Brothers were cancelled.

Last time I waxed this nostalgic Thomas Linton showed and could quote verse from various productions. A great memory is a gift and I wish I'd not thrown mine away.

Any one else notice Thomas Linton knows too much? Come the Revolution, we'll have to keep a close eye on him.
