I ordered mine on March 22nd.... of '06 and I have not recieved it yet.
I don't know if it helps to mention that you are in the military or not. I had a very favorable experience with K-5/Eddie, and would recommend him and his work to anyone and everyone. I'd really like to see more of these overseas, they're great supplements to any entry package, and complement just about any warfighting inventory.
Personally I believe that there's enough demand for Eddie to sell directly to the public, and wholesale to some select dealers, but before we start minding his business let's step back and remember that we don't have access to his spreadsheet of possibilities and constraints. The K-5 is a great product, and like many of its ilk, worth waiting for. If you really need one really bad and really soon, say so in the Exchange and it's likely that someone will come through for you. BF has been really great about that in the past. Let Eddie know too, he may be able to help, (just know that this is me making a suggestion, not making promises Eddie can't keep).
I hope that helps, and 762, I hope you get your hawk soon, a year for a production hawk is a bit excessive and worrisome.

I ordered mine 2/10/06 I have many hawks and am in no hurry to get it but I would like to eventually get one. I am all for active military getting their hawks first. I have the hammer poll and know these are well worth the wait.

I'm sort of glad that I've had to wait on mine. If it's between and one of our deployed soldiers, I can wait some more. I'm getting a good feel from everyone that I made the right decision to order one.
