Ok guys...the time has come.

Tom Krein and I have been working hard on developing some prototypes for a new knife company = K9 Knives.

The idea is to put together an extremely high performance set of knives where the goal is function and design.

A lot of thought has been put into these knife designs - we've taken basic ideas/patterns and added options & features that enhance them while creating a whole new style of knife.

To say I'm excited about this venture is an extreme UnderStatement!

We are finally at a spot where we feel comfortable with the design and the quality. These knives are going to be mid-tech at first and then full production as we build the company over time. More important, though, is that they will all be made here in the grand ole USA.

Over the next few days, you'll have the opportunity to tune in and watch the progress of the first prototype.

Here is a pic to start us off:

Specs:

10.5" overall, 5" blade, 1/4" thick.
The steel will be 3V

Stay tuned to see more options.

The first run will be limited to 50 pieces (will be numbered 1-50) and will be offered first to those on the Mailing List.

If you are interested, better sign up for it a.s.a.p.

Just click the link in my Sig Line with the K9 logo and scroll to the bottom.

Thanks!

Dan

Dan wants us all to drain our bank accounts, taunting us like this. I might as well send you my debit card and pin #.

Is this line going to be super high end or are going to keep prices affordable to the commoners?

Looks really nice BTW.

I think Dan is in class, but basically we will do a mailing to the list and the first 50 that respond will be the 50 that get a numbered piece.

If you don't get one of the first 50, don't worry we will make more!!:D

Tom

Looks awesome!

ok i know this is waaay to early to say, but any chances of CPM-M4 being used in the future? i'd love to see a "production" cutting comp style knife in the 8" blade length range. pretty please?:D

I'd love that -- M4 definitely ain't cheap, though, that's for sure (but worth it - i have a small custom blade in 5/16" thick M4 - $350 just for the steel  )- but holds its edge like nothing i have ever used, from infi to S60V to BG-42 VIM-VAR, you name it (although i have not tried Vasco-Wear or Talonite or ceramics)... There might be a more wear-resistant steel out there, but i haven't found it yet... And the increased toughness, deformation & chipping resistance over, say, M2 is great...

everything works for me, rooikat...keep on tryin'...!

Keep your eyes peeled, guys!!

This is going to be an awesome knife.

We strongly considered M4...and it is indeed tempting...

Damn. Can't wait to see these designs...

Looks good! I especially like the way the swedge cuts through the blood groove at an angle.

Dan, you have to stop with all of these awesome blade ideas. I will literally be broke before the year is out. I can't wait to see these designs. This should be awesome.

What is the price point on the K9 blades in terms of your market competition? Is the price going to be similar to other production 3V blades like Fehrman or is it going to be targeted more toward the Scrapyard/Swamp Rat crowd? If the price is right and the heat treat is on, these blades could be the next big thing, no question. I think you are gonna be very busy for awhile!
