Ka-Bar 1095 sharpening

1095 is a very common cutlery steel. Since most of Ka-Bar's knives have straight edges, an oil stone will work just fine. That is one of the great things about 1095, it holds an edge fairly well and is easy to sharpen.

i don't see why not...

Ka-bars have a reputation to be easy to sharpen (meant to be used in the field).

Just hold it at the proper angle and hone each side until you get a good burr, and then a few more times alternating to deburr it.

Depending on how "fine" an edge you want, you can use finer stones, but if you don't need to shave with it, and just need a good fine utility edge that can cut paper, 1 stone should do the trick.

1095 has been used for knives for all my [long] life .Long before sharpening 'systems' ceramic or diamond sharpeners. Sharpening is not a problem.Properly heat treated it makes a very fine blade steel !!!

Thanks to all! I just want a knife a can sharpen easy with a traditional stone. But what is the Rockwell limit for a traditional stone?
My buck 420HC look to be hard to sharpen with a normal stone

The old Bucks were not particularly hard. The edge was ground too thick-making them hard to sharpen.
