I just bought a Ka Bar on ebay, it arrived today, looked great at first, but then...looking at the blade spring/spine (sorry I may have terminology wrong) shows elevation difference/misalignment with the blade when opened by a couple mms, and a gap on both ends of the spine while closed. The blade pivot pin has a slight ghost of a half moon depression on it. I assume I bought a repaired knife. It really spoiled the feeling for me of aquiring my first Ka Bar. I might not have a problem with the repair if the gaps and misalignment were not so prominent. This did not show in the photo! Thanks for letting me vent...:(

Had to dig my KaBar 1189 out to look. I bought it new, and it has shown a similar misalignment on the spine/blade when opened (though only about .25-.5 mm). I've examined a bunch of Buck folding hunters with misalignment similar to my KaBar.

It's a knife, take it out and use it (I did with mine!). Get a feel for the knife and the pattern, and if you like it locate a better specimen. Good luck!

Thanks for the fresh cup of coffee. I feel better already.

Welcome to the fold, CJ. Hope you enjoy your stay here but watch your wallet. The money can go flying out pretty quickly! ;)

I know I have to budget my dollars for my new found hobby. It all started with a tool box purchase at an estate sale... Queen City Jack vintage with rust came in the tool box. Polished up pretty nice with flitz, gave to Dad for his B-day. Made my older brother jealous. So now it begins.
