Planning to buy myself a 1283 with the leather sheath next month. This'll be my first D2 kabar , ppl who own one how do you like it ? I also own a plain edge leather handle leather sheath usmc , a combo edge kraton handle , leather sheath usmc , a plain edge tanto blade mule folder , a potbelly , a kraton handle big brother ,two small TDIs, an extra large heavy Bowie , few others.
 
No but I own many other kabars . I'm gonna buy it , then if If it turns out I don't like it much it'll go in the storage unit

I got one of these a few years ago because someone told me that D2 was the ducks guts.I planned on using it as my "one knife",but it didnt measure up.

The handle is too heavy thanks to the thick pommel and guard.They are too thick for such a thin blade I feel.

Then the pommel broke off after two hits on a tent peg!I sent it back and was given another,but it did the same.

The rockwell is 60,to brittle in my opinion!The blade would chip rather quick as well.The leather sheath was rubbish,the kydex one was better,just.

All these comments are just my two cents of course,I feel kabar dropped the ball when making this knife,I could and should have been a lot better.

It's designed as a fighter , I'm really not surprised you broke the pommel trying to hammer steel tent pegs
