So, my birthday was on Wednesday (30-years-old... yippie!) and my lovely fiance bought me a ZT 0200 which should be arriving shortly. I heard great things about it and how "beefy" it is. Should be an excellent addition to my collection since most of my knives are more petite for easier carrying.

However, I want to treat myself to a knife as well. Preferably a nice fixed blade with "style". More of a something unique thing.

I have a BK22 for most of my actual fixed blade hard use needs when I camp. This knife would be more of a light use knife and honestly, just for fun. I know some people frown upon unique design over functionality but as my collection grows I'm attaining plenty of function.

So, at the moment it's a toss up between the KA-Bar and the Boker. Although as always I'm open to suggestions on other knives. I'm just looking to spend around $100 right now. Some of the best knives I've gotten have been from the community here and their suggestions.

You guys are truly an invaluable resource and I truly appreciate it.

Thanks you as always!

boker rampage works good and looks bad A$$ check it out on blade hq but if you dont like it out of those two the bacon maker and get some custom scales those scales are awful i have on of there other knives with that on them i had to get new one

I don't have any experiences with the Ka-bar. Interesting profile. Boker makes some very nicely finished knives, the Valkyrie is a favourite.
Happy Birthday!

I already thought about replacing the scales on the Bacon if I decided to get one. FRN simply doesn't do it for me. I've never enjoyed the feel of it. I much prefer the feel of Micarta, G-10, Aluminum and Wood. Haven't bought a full Ti handle knife yet. Although almost certainly will one day.

I like the recurve on the KBar but imagine it would be a pain to sharpen like most recurves can be. However, my experience with recurve tends to be on folders which have a smaller blade. So it might not be as hard with a longer blade.

I'm sort of leaning toward the Boker because I enjoy the look of that blade as well, plus it comes with a nice leather sheath. However, the Baconmaker has 1095 as opposed to the Valkyrie's 440c.

Also, thank you for the birthday wish :)

The Valkyrie is a very nice knife, sheath needs to be replaced tho. Not a quality build at all.

I'd go with the Ka-Bar, but I'm not crazy about either. Ever heard of the Boker Vox Rold?
Voxnaes' designs have the distinctness you seem to want, and I prefer the Rold over both the Valkyrie and the Baconmaker.

That being said, if it's down to these two and no others, I would go with the Baconmaker. It just seems more "interesting" to me than the Valkyrie.
