Any thoughts on this knife? I have one on order. Actually having it shipped directly to the guy who makes all of my holsters and sheaths so I won't have it for a couple of weeks. It seems to be exactly what I was looking for but thought I'd see what you guys think of it.

A friend of mine has one and destroyed the edge by using it a bit too much without sharpening step when needed. It is probably a great knife if you know how to take care of it.
Personnaly I'm more an Esee guy, I perfer the micarta handle of my laser strike and the kydex sheath but if you are going to get a new sheath, you won't have problem.
There are also plenty of option for custom handle on the market or you can still do it yourself if you have the tools required.
But in my opinion, the main question to ask in knife industry is "will it fit my needs and my system ?". Always use the right tool for the right thing and everything will be fine.
I'm sure you will have plenty of fun using your new tool.

I think you're going to love your new BK2. The price difference between a BK2 and an ESEE5 will easily cover the cost of your new sheath, and the superior feel in hand comes free of charge. ;)

Please post photos of the new combo when you get it.

Great knife. Check out the Becker Knife and Tool sub forum in these manufacturer's forums too, lots of info there about the BK 2 and other Beckers.

And welcome to the addiction!

Thanks guys. I've got the EESE 3 and had looked at the ESSE 5 but I wanted a flat pommel that the Becker had and the ESSE didn't.
As for the Sheath all of my sheaths and holsters are made by http://pantherconcealment.com in Jacksonville. Jim is a great guy and does great work.

I've owned my BK2 for 2 years. I EDC'd it for 6 months, it currently lives in my EDC bag, and I've taken it with me any time I've gone camping or up north.

I've battoned it through logs as long as the blade:

And I've used it for some fine carving for watermelon helmets:

I've also used it as my main go-to tool to split small wood for backyard fires. Its a great knife

BK2 will serve you well, small, strong, retains edge, easily sharpened, also keep one by the fire for small work, mine even went through a couple fires long story, just be careful as it only takes 1 to start an addiction known as BECKERITIS , good choice the King will probably follow

I have a BK2, it's in my survival kit bag, that I keep in my car. My BK9 is the go-to woods knife for keeping on my belt when I'm out and about in nature, but the BK2 is my emergency knife cuz I know it'll do anything I could ask of it, and keeping a BK9 unused in a kit just doesn't sit well with me. :p

They are outstanding. As far as 'destroying the edge by lack of sharpening' - I say pffft! The BK2 is what other knives want to be when they grow up. :D

If EVER there was a knife that is still a great knife even if you DON'T know how to take care of it (other than rust), the BK2 is that knife.
I'm not sure what is meant by the edge being destroyed by not sharpening it because metal needs to be removed to create a new edge..............either a little each time, or more all at once.

My first and favorite Becker. I had Julio at 710 Custom Sheaths make a kydex rig for me and it multiplied my affinity for the blade exponentially.
