Ka-Bar Big Brother Kraton or Leather ?

Guys I would like to buy a ka-Bar Big Brother, however these two models have a different blade:

- Ka-Bar Big Brother Kraton -> Steel 1095 Cro-Van

- Ka-Bar Big Brother Leather -> Steel HRC 56-58

so which is the best blade, ? Thanks guys ;)
 
Both blades are exactly the same, the only difference is handle material. Out of the 2 handle materials, Kraton with last longer.

IMHO after owning a KaBar Big Brother, and selling it, this is a knife to avoid. Way too thin of steel stock, and still has a rat tail tang.
 
I'd agree that this is a blade to avoid, mainly because of the dumb location of the serrations. The regular stick tang ka-bars are pretty tough if you use them intelligently and don't throw them.

However I have 150€/210$ of budget, which is a good knife that I can buy with my money ?

I don't know which are the differences ? :confused:
 
The first picture is the current model with the etched logo. The second picture is the older model with the stamped logo. Either way you should be fine.

The USMC model and USN MK1 would be far stronger options with the stick tang, the Big Brother being much longer and just as thin, with the same stick tang is IMHO pushing it's design
past it's limits of strength. Also the Blade height is over an 1 1/2" this exerts a lot of force on the stick tang when chopping.

Full Flat Tang that Bad Boy and we are GTG...
 
You can`t go wrong with a USMC Ka-Bar. I`ve had one for over thirty years and it`s still going strong.

I don't understand... in the first picture there is the model with stamped logo not etched logo ;)

Image 1 (as it shows in your post) is the current (new) model. It has the etched Logo. You may want to visit the Becker subforum here. It will have a lot of information on the BK-9.

Just a note from a proud user of the kabar big brother. Ive beat this thing to hell and back and not only does it take a magnificent edge the stick tang is more than adequate.
