Hello once again,
A couple of weeks ago, I made a thread asking for recommendations for a hard use knife. I finally made my decision (Ka-Bar BK9). Just as I was about to pull the trigger on the purchase, my eyes stumbled along the Condor Heavy Duty Kukri. Now I can't make up my mind: 9 inch blade or 10 inch blade? Hollow grind or Convex grind? Bowie blade or Kukri blade? 1095 carbon steel or 1075 carbon steel? 3/16th inch blade thickness or 5/16 inch blade thickness? There is two many good qualities about the knifes I can't make my mind up.
Here is the thread I made a couple of weeks ago on what I want to use the blade for http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1195994-Need-a-hard-use-knife . Although I would like to buy both blades, I don't have enough funds right now to buy two hard use knifes. Within time I might own both blades.
Thank you.

BK9. Period. Not a doubt in my mind. Condor makes some good stuff, but their QC is spotty at best. I'd only get the condor if you really REALLY like that style of blade, and want to spend some time correcting their mistakes. (Rounded tips, wonky handles, weirdly ground wavy edges, etc) the BK9 will be damn near perfect out if the box. Great fit and finish, even coating, good grinds, sharp edge and tip. The only thing that might need attention is the sheath. They tend to suck pretty hard .

If I were you and was considering the same exact 2 knives , there's not a doubt in my mind I'd go with the BK9.

Get a BK9. It's going to be lighter and be a great performer. Not sure how it compares to the Condor kukri for chopping but it will chop and split very well and also performs other tasks fairly well also. And it's not going to be a burden to lug around. Once while camping my buddy forgot the spatula so I batoned a plank out of a log with my BK9 and proceeded to make a spatula out of it. It turned out pretty good and he actually kept it.

There is always another knife round the corner to tempt you
Give yourself a break

You choose BK 9?
Go for it and know you are gettting an excellent knife, by an excellent designer, by an excellent manufacturer

The kukri like thing will likely out-chop the bk9 bt not by much. The bk9 will be better at every other knife like task you need to do. Get the bk9 - it's the king for a reason.
