The knives ka-bar are known everywhere in the world mainly by the production of the model ` usmc' drawn during the 2 world war for the use of the Marine Body, nowadays this model and many alternatives are always produced. Ka-bar proposes also models of knives which some were drawn by Bob Dozier an American cutler.
Bob Dozier remains one of the very the great names in the USA Bob started to sell his knives in 1961 when he specialized in the use of steel d2 after beginning in the customs of great level. It will return has simpler model with the more standard completion with always D2 and a use of Micarta for the handle and Kydex case. Its range of fixed blade covers all the uses of the knife of camp to the kitchen while passing by the fighters and knife of coil defense with models very snuffed by the professionals as well in the police force as in the army, its range of folding stool is also rather vast model of hunting for the tactical model. There too one finds D2 for the blades and Micarta for the handles, a liner out of titanium and a range of handle any titanium J' used several fixed blades of this cutler and I keep some that good memories the same applies to his folding stool which was among the first products at the time.
The Ka-Bar Folding camera Hunters and Folding Skinners are model of great production the blades are in AUS 8 stainless used by good of another firms the handles in zytel black with a of the same clip metal color (which is reversible) as well as the button of opening a hand placed on the blade. The form General is that of Liner Customs known as "drives out" produces by Dozier. Here the blocking of the blade to pump, is placed in medium of handle. This same handle has a hole passes dragonne in its end. The émouture of these blades is in hollow. Another speciality of Dozier the Hunter model is a drop not traditional as for Skinner this blade has a bump close to the point giving him an extremely pleasant look to my taste. The size of these models is same A knowledge:
18 cm open pour10.5 closed cm.
The blade 2 cm is broad.
The size remains very utility. They are easy has to carry Ces folding are intended for any use of collapsible model, of do-it-yourself to hunting while passing by the break-in crust. For my part I also regard them as possible folding stools with to do everything, ideals for the professionals with moreover one does not profile low too tactical. On the level of the performances tested in uses of traditional cut: paper, paperboard, kitchen, including ham to dry well, plus a passage over quite dry boxwood, there too the result is very good! A very powerful basic edge and little loss have the use. Moreover the regrinding is not of the nightmare type with a stone diamante of the type eze lap Pour corser the all these folding stool have a blade assembled on axis of the screwed type which allows a cleaning if need be. The handle is comfortable and does not slip in hand.
In short in light these are good knives of everyday usage with a sympathetic look and a good quality. The whole at a price of most competitive: hardly more than 40 euros what makes them still more interesting.

Good to see you are still around Nemo. Are the grinds on these similar to what Dozier uses on his own fixed blades?

I'll ask Fred about that .

BTW as English is your mother tongue, is this review painful to read or understandable. Systran is not really 'intelligent' ...
cheers

The review reads fine. There are no problems in clarity of presentation. There are a few translation problems such as :

"I also regard them as possible folding stools ..."

however the meaning is clear from the context (folding tools).

Thank you Cliff !
This is the kind of detail you can not understand , if English is not your Mother Tongue !

Thank you !

cheers

English is not my mothertongue, so it was a bit harder to understand. I got the main - thought right, but in detail, oh i must read it twice. But it´s better than the translation program used on the crucible site or the Muela site.

BTW, Nemo, is Fred Perrins 806D2 still existing or is it broken by throwing?

I don't know about Fred's
but mine is in good shape and
I've been using it a lot...

Now, for 2 monthes, I have switched to my Military PE...

cheers

I love the KaBar Dozier folding hunter. The design is incredibly close to Bob's custom version, lock-up is solid with zero blade play, and while AUS-8 and zytel ain't S30V and micarta, you get a very well-made knife for around $25. I've been wearing mine at work for about a month now, and from stripping wire to cutting open banded pallets (plastic bands, but still pretty tough) I have no complaints. It's tough, takes and holds an edge very well, and I love the design. I'll be buying more of them.
