Ka-Bar Bob Dozier Thorn

I've been droolin' over this one myself ; posted about it & the SOG Pentagon Elite awhile back (I'm a lover of "dagger type" blades ;)) I
say, if it's made by Ka Bar ( same folks that make the battle blade for the Marines ;)) it's probably a winner. It's DEFINITELY next on my "list";) Got the SOG PE, the thorn
in my side (pun intended;)) is NEXT!

AET ;)

The opening stud on the side of the blade sticks out beyond the handle and would get snagged on my pants. Otherwise, it is a nice knife but smaller than it appears in the ads.

Can anyone comment on the blade, as far as thickness and taper?

Thanks,

This would be easier with a diagram to label :) however,

Blade length 3.25" with 3" sharpened
width 23/32" at bolster (just under 3/4")
width 22/32" at 1.5" from tip
width 18/32" at 1.0" from tip
width 14/32" at 0.5" from tip

A ridge runs along the blade approximately 1/3 the width down from the top edge, which is almost sharpened. The ridge is the same 1/8" thick as the original stock at the bolster, being what remains after the rest of the blade, top & bottom was hollow-ground.

Esav.. can you get a decent grip on the Thorn? is it grippy or slippery? any finger protection.? it is at least in part a thruster....

If you go for a sabre grip, remember you're holding a rounded 4" handle with smooooth aluminum scales :) together with Bob Dozier's characteristic tiny pointy 'guards'. At that point, my fingers are hardly on the handle at all.

But using a hammer grip, yes, the palm swells make the handle fit my grip perfectly. That knife ain't gonna slip even if I do stab someone. Of course, I'd hate to do that with such a short blade and get blood all over my knuckles ... and I wouldn't want to stab into wood.

It's not a combat dagger. I had a chance to handle a few small and larger models of the original Dozier Folding Dagger at his table at the NY show last weekend. The big one is deadly. Also e.x.p.e.n.s.i.v.e.

This is a light-weight, sleek, beautiful, sharp, mean-looking gentleman's knife.
