Hello,
I recently bought a Ka-Bar Camp Knife. Initial inspection revealed that the tang of the knife is not flush with the pommel. Whether the Kraton handle was cut too long or the tang is too short, the end result is the bottom of the tang is recessed .05". How much metal is normally left at the bottom of the tang after it has been drilled for the pin? I don't care about aesthetics since it's a user knife, but will this have any adverse affect on the performance of the knife? What if I do some hammering in the field - will the pommel come loose? Will the metal that is left fatigue and cause the knife to fail? Or is this a moot point and it will perform just fine?
Later,
BR
