My problem is that I have a Ka-bar Marine knife, Coldsteel SRK, and a Buck 119. As hard as it may be to get an unbiased opinion, which one would you want most in the bush. I am always swapping them out everytime I go camping, hunting or just walking in the woods. I was wondering what my fellow knife lovers think.:thumbdn::thumbup:

Buck 119, I am tempted to say the SRK, but I think overall the Buck 119 will be better for more all around common cutting tasks.

I'd choose the Cold Steel SRK without hesitation out of those you listed. I've had two SRKs for years, plus a friend of mine has one.

I have both a ka-bar and a srk. Both will make great buch knives in dry conditions. If your going to be around a lot of water then go with the stainless 119.

Can't go wrong with the Kabar, though I would take off the top portion of the handle guard.

I would go with the Ka-Bar to answer your question.

If you want another very nice knife to play with, consider getting the Smith & Wesson Homeland Security Tanto. No, I'm not certifiable, but I recently picked up one of these at the great price of $29.99 and was surprised to find out I liked it! I have two Marine Ka-Bars and they're very good. Also a Cold Steel Recon Tanto, which I also like. And I have a Cold Steel Peacekeeper, which is so-so. (The double blade is great, but the blade steel itself is pathetic.)

I'm also decidedly not a fan of Smith & Wesson's knife offerings, though there are a few that I like. But this H.S. Tanto is now my favorite fixed blade. I bought it on a whim with a Frost Cutlery copy for thirteen bucks. The Frost did not disappoint me in the least. It was a piece of garbage. I also expected S&W's H.S. Tanto to be just another piece of Chinese trash, but I was pleasantly surprised. It has remarkable chopping abilities due to the weight and size of the knife. It also cuts brush very well as well as kindling. It's got G-10 scales and a decent grind and finish. And if you forget a tent peg, don't worry, the knife also can be used for that. The sheath also includes a diamond stone for sharpening, and just a few strokes restores the blade's sharpness.

It's a heavy knife, but can be used as a machete
or light hatchet chopping. I was pleasantly surprised.

Of the three, I would get the Cold Steel SRK without a moment's hesitation.

I have an SRK, and, IMHO, it's several orders of magnitude better than any KaBar or Buck I've ever owned.
