KA-BAR Combat Kukri,

Well, now that this knife has been out there a while. How are you folks that have them, liking them?
I kind of had the hots for one when they first came out. But never acted on it. I have a BK-4 and I would be interested in any comparisons.

I realize they are somewhat different. But I use my Bk-4 a lot as an improvised drawshave, chopper, and for other general purpose tasks and find it continues to impress me. And I imagine the same could be done with the CK. Plus they both have that curved blade geometry that transfers energy in a similar fashion.

What say ye??

I do not own one, but I am interested to see how this blade sells after the release of the Becker RBK.

by the way...the BK4 is awesome!!

I have one but I've only taken it out once. I feel like although it's fairly light weight it's just too big and awkward to carry for its capabilities. When I chop with it it feels like my arm is doing most of the work instead of the weight of the blade so I don't really consider it a chopper at all, more like a kukri bladed Ka-bar USMC combat knife. I mean it can chop a bit better than the USMC Ka-bar but it's not terribly efficient and it's as long as the BK9 on my hip.
As far as finer cutting goes it did alright but wouldn't be my first choice for that, but then I'm not really used to using kukri shaped blades.
Maybe some people would love it, I don't know, but it didn't really click with me.

Also I've never handled the bk4 so I can't really compare them.

I m all for the combat Kukri.
it will shine in the combative mode.
however, there is this issue
with the tang though.
it utilises the same kraton handle as the f/u.
therefore I must presume
that it shares the same inherent tang weakness, if any...

I would be very careful in how it is used and applied
for fieldcraft.
seeing that the dog legged blade makes for a
more blade heavy balance.
hence, ever greater stress might come into play
Whilst working upon dense wood or materials.
just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

And yes I have taken the Tang into consideration. It's one of those knives I like the looks of. But have not acted upon. Unlike the Mark l, which was love at first sight. I had one inbound as soon as they were available.

Plus it would overlap the BK-4 somewhat. Not that overlapping knives has ever been a problem in the past.

We all have our weakness
I would like to think i have a weak spine
Especially When it comes to standing up against
My better judgment
So when it comes to
Buying for the sake of fulfilling an unnecessary want...
i know i could never live with myself
If i let something as spectacular as the combat kukri
Slip away from strengthening my resolve in finding a cure
For what seems to be bouts of incurable steely temptations.
