Ka-Bar Coppersmith Barlow question

I'm interested in the Ka-Bar Coppersmith Barlow manufactured by Canal Street. I purchased a Gold Rush Barlow for a friend at the CSC open house and was really impressed with F&F. It was really first rate. The copper bolsters on this new Coppersmith look really unique and have caught my eye.

I have two questions:

1) How does the copper bolster look once it begins to gain patina--anyone have pics yet of either a natural or a forced patina?

2) Is there one version of the knife or are there two? I've seen different vendors list the blade steel as D2 or 14-4. I could chalk it up to a vendor listing mistake, but there also seems to be a consistent $20 price point difference--so that leads me to believe that there are in fact two different steel options on this barlow. Can anyone confirm that?

Thanks!

Since it's described as a two blade Wharncliffe Barlow, I am at a loss finding such a knife on the web.

It doesn't exist. I was excited when I first read that but in the thread I linked to above it talks about that as well.

Thanks for the info! Those photos look great!

For the Coppersmith Barlow, "Wharncliffe" means the secondary blade is "Wharncliffe-like", to me it looks like the Case Texas-Jack secondary blade: kind of straight-ish with a slight arc.

They're listed as Ka-Bar 6123CU and a web search listed several vendors with current stock. I just purchased mine from TomarsKabars, a BF vendor.

Another member has posted pics of a copper bolster with patina...looks damn good.

Do you have a pic of the gold rush barlow? I see them in the AG Russell catalog but havent seen one in the wild.
