Ka-Bar Dozier Folder

I am considering giving one of these to a friend and was wondering if anyone had any opinions of them. I would give him a Delica or Native, but he just does not like the thick handle (height, not width). Also he is hard on them, abuses them on my book. At last check, he was still carrying a Smith & Wesson Cuttin' Horse with a broken handle.

Has anyone used, handled one of these Ka-Bar/Dozier designed knives, particularly the Drop Point Hunter?

Any other suggestions for a relatively cheap, one hand opener, 3" range, slim handle - height, not necessarily width, $20-$30 range?

Thanks

Best $20 you'll ever spend on a knife. I've bought three of them and they've all been excellent. Tougher than a Spyderco Delica at half the price.

Best regards,
Clay

Originally, there was only the spearpoint and it is what most of us probably have. There have been a couple of threads on it if ya wanna do a search but suffice to say that they are the best $20 folder on the planet! IMHO!:D

I haven't tried the Ka-Bar Dozier's Hunter as of yet, but am certainly considering getting one sometime for a work EDC (I'm hesitant because I'm not a big AUS-8 fan).
Other possibilities for you to consider are: Kershaw Vapors, nice and stylish but I don't think they would take much abuse. Or, the tried and true Buck 110, not a one-hander but you can't seem to kill these things.

Just got 2 in the mail. (Drop point and Folding skinner)

I havent had a chance to put them through the ringer, but they seem like great workhorse knives. I am comparing them to my older Gerber LST's. The blade is much thicker, and feels much more finished.

My initial impression is that these are great little knives for the $17.50 pricetag!

I've had mine a few months now. It's a great knife and unbeatable for twice the price.

I posted the following in March about modifying the handle:

The knife feels very strong and tight with excellent blade lock up. Great working blade shape in AUS8. Workmanship is on par with any other FRN handled knife out there. The clip positions the knife deep in the pocket but very accessible.

It needed one slight modification. I used a Dremel sanding wheel to remove part of the handle behind the thumb stud. I used the Dremel to cut a small “dish” that gives you the room to get your thumb behind the stud to push the blade open.

This knife is a sleeper! And at $20 from AG Russell, it’s a steal!

Where did you find them for $17.50? Like most, I got mine from AGR for 19.95. Not much difference, but when I start giving more as gifts, I don't mind saving a few bucks.
