I'v been looking at alot of different fathers day knives lately, and so far the KA-BAR Dozier has really jumped out at me.
He likes my spyderco's and understands that a knife can be a really handy tool, but dosn't edc (im hoping to get him hooked :D )

Generally, I'd go for a Spyderco, but there are a lot of things that would make this a good choice for my pa

-it's farily cheap; he won't buy an expencive knife because he thinks he'll loose it (I agree that very well may)
-it comes in bright orange zytle; makes it easier to find when it is lost, also a +1 for the bush
-AUS8 steel, while not the toughest, should hold up to some abuse
-it's cheap again, so if does break, it's less of a loss
-the fact that it's a KA-BAR makes me think that i'm getting alot of quality in a small cheap knife.

I'm looking for thoughts, as well as some comparsion pictures (for size)
thanks.

I have given several friends KA-BAR Doziers and they have been well received. I have a Large KA-BAR Dozier as well as having handled the ones I gave to folks. I find them to be well made and the designs to be very useful. Definitely good bang for the buck.

Another advantage to the AUS8 is that it is easy to sharpen with little effort and no special equipment.

I think you have chosen your gift well.

Sweet, Thanks, I was worried I was gonna jump the gun on the Dozier- but It seems my instincts are doing a good job.

Nothing wrong with the Kabar Doziers. I own two (one being the orange one) and they are one of the best bang for the buck knives out there.

It is a decent knife, especially for the price tag. Great value knife.

Do those have a lanyard hole? I looked at a few online and can't tell due to picture quality. I plan on getting one for each of my boys after they've completed boot camp for the Young Marines.

Yes they do. I haven't put a lanyard on mine, but it looks like it would take your standard 550 cord.

The Kabar Doziers are great. When I got one it basically replaced my Benchmade and Spyderco EDC. Still carry a Case Peanut to go with it though. It's great for EDC because lock up is fairly strong, design is good, and its lightweight and slim. All I know is that if Kabar ever decided to discontinue them I would buy a bunch just so I'd have a few extra.
