Got this on Saturday night, by yesterday afternoon I was basically done.

Etched, stripped and forced patina.

Before:

Etching
12VDC power adapter with jumpers clipped on
Distilled white vinegar and a crapton of table salt etching solution

Stripping
Citristrip for about 45 minutes to an hour

Stripped and patina'd thanks to the citristrip

Finished product:

Might put the dayglo green scales back on it to see what it looks like. Otherwise, might see if I can get some of the brown scales from a Johnson Adventure Potbelly/Baconmaker... Also, might look into a custom sheath.

Looks really good in my opinion.
i like black scales better than those zombie ones.

I was surprised that the serrations look like they put an additional edge on them to make them "pointy". I think that's new? Is KA-BAR doing that on all of their serrated blades now, or just this model? Not complaining, just curious.

That looks awesome! I wonder what my Taiwanese one would look like stripped?

Good work on that knife. I never liked the look of the zombie tanto until I saw this one. I like.

I thought about doing that to my Chopstick! Thanks for the pics! I also want to remove the hook, but it's going to prove difficult, since it's a lot of steel.

Oh yeah baby!! That looks effing amazing orezona! Onya buddy! I knew you'd beat me to the punch but who cares when it looks that good! Hot damn that looks sooooooo cool man! And heres a coupla extra exclamation marks! !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, guys!

Druid: That's a great idea... All I would need besides longer hardware would be an old xbox game case.

Got some dayglo green G10 scale liner material from knifemaker, so we'll see how that goes. For 6 bucks, it's worth a shot.

For the electro etching, it was pretty simple. You can do it with a 9V battery. Search google (or these forums) and the info is out there. The only major difference is the power I used is a 12V/500mA AC to DC adapter with some alligator jumpers on. I had to scrape the finish off by the hole to attach the clip to the bare metal and then it only took me about 10 minutes. I used just some white distilled vinegar and several tablespoons of regular salt.
