It is made of stainless steel called din 1.4116. I like the size and shape for hunting and general use. I also like the price. All the reviews I have seen seem to say it is razer sharp out of the box and is easy to sharpen. Stacked leather handle. Anyone used one much? What does anyone know about the knives? It seems that this one is made in Japan now while others in the series are Tiwon made. Thanks for the info.

1.4116 is very similar to 420HC in composition.

KaBar lists the hardness as 53-55

I haven't used one, but that seems a bit soft to me.

You might consider a Buck 102 Woodsman instead.
Similar handle and blade shape and size. Similar alloy, still easy to sharpen, but hardened to a ~58 so it will hold an edge longer.

Edited to add: And made in the USA. always a plus.
