what does anyone thing of the impact series...any good.....im thinking spear point of warthog....anything similar out there?

I asked this same Q a while back. Evedently no one here has one. I think the Spearpoint would be a good all around knife.

I don't have one but i have handled a few and I like them a lot. it's a simple knife which should take a lot of abuse without any problem. I agree with pogo in regards to the spear point in that i think it would be a somewhat more useful design. I believe the impact series is made using 1095 steel which i like. seems like there is also a model which uses D2. if you like it then give it a try, look around for the best price and go for it. just do what i do if i don't like it i trade it. good luck, ahgar

Get the D2, it's a harder steel that keeps a wicked edge.
I've got the 7" Extreme Fighting knife in D2. Superb.

I have both the spearpoints, i.e., one with D2 and the other one with 1095. The D2 impact spearpoint is a big knife. It's not only longer than its 1095 brother but the blade is wider, too. I personally find the 1095 one a better size to carry around. A tough little knife.

I also have the D2 Kabar extreme.

I recently bought a D2 Spear point Ka bar Impact and was not too impressed with it. First of all, out of the box, the grind was very lopsided and I had to send it back to the factory because D2 is to much to put a new grind on with just bench stones. I found the micarta handles to be uncomfortable, something that a belt sander could easily fix. Basiclly, I am used to the fit and finish of BMs, and I would suggest a BM myself, but if you want a thick, indistructable knife, this one would be a good bet.
p.s. Ka Bar customer service is sooooo sloooooow! they get the job done, but it takes weeks and weeks. if you have a problem, try and work it out with the retailer, not Ka bar!
