March was so busy for me I didn't have much time for reading.
Today, however, I was thumbing a back issue of Field and Stream and came across this page!
Nice write up on a great khukuri.

May have to finally break down and get one, now.

I like traditional Kukri, but I like the variants too. They all have their niche. Aside from the sheath, the Kabar Kukri impressed me in quality and performance at certain tasks. Belt axe is just a far better tool for me in my neck of the woods.

It's made in Taiwan and I prefer USA, but I have to say... the few knives I do own from Taiwan all have had perfect grinds and zero issues.

Its my only large knife. I'd go for it anyday and rake it to the dirt a lot. Waded through a river once and forgot the sheath holds moisture. Just a little slight surface rust brushed right off. The thing is still near mint , just very dirty, minus one chip where I dropped it on a parking lot

I love my Ka-Bar Kukri. I can get great speed and leverage with this blade.

I have been eying this for a while now. I am just concerned regarding the handle. It looks big and bulky to me. There are no dealers that carry it in my area so that I can handle it. How does the handle size compare to say a ontario sp8, esse junglas, cold steel kukri machete.

Idk but get the knife

The handle on the KA-BAR Kukri machete is similar in size to the handle on the Ontario SP8, but it's considerably more rounded, and more comfortable to the palm when chopping something.

That said, I learned for myself yesterday that this thing is an absolute monster when it comes to chopping. It can actually out-chop the BK9.
