So, does anyone have any experience with this knife? I'm looking for an inexpensive kukri to use as a beater. Ontario makes one, too. So, let me hear what you think of these (please).

I only recently received the Ka-Bar Kukri as a gift. I have owned and used Ka-Bar knifes in the past and consider them to be good production knives at their price level. The Kukri chopped through logs and branches far better than I had anticipated (I thought that its shape might be a gimmick, but that was not the case). The 11.5 inch blade chops on par with previous machetes I have used with longer, but traditional-shaped, blades. I cannot speak to its duribility, as I have owned it only for a short time. Thus far I think it is a good short machete and well worth its price tag (mine was 59 dollars).

For $50 to $75 you could get a hand forged kukri from Himalayan Imports. Watch their forums here for the deals that are posted.

What he said. For Khukuris Himalayan Imports really can't be beat.
