Ka bar large heavy bowie...nicked the blade edge

Hey guys , hoping to get some help. I have a ka-bar large bowie that I took on a hike with me last weekend, I was processing some wood and noticed the blade edge became nicked about mid blade. What are my options, can the blade be salvaged by re-pofiling the edge or can it be sharpened out ?

Without seeing how bad the damage is, I expect it will be hard to say for sure. It sounds like it wouldn't hurt anything to re-profile and get a more suitable edge angle on it.

With the right system you can sharpen out/reprofile any nick you just have to remove enough metal to where the blade edge will be where the bottom of the nick is.
