Ka Bar Large Heavy Bowie. Risk of chipping.

Hello,

I'm looking for a large survivalknife, mainly for chopping.

I would like to purchase a Junglas, but that knife is not available where I live.

Now I saw a Ka Bar Large Heavy Bowie, which also is a lot cheaper.

It sells for 110 dollar here (80 euro). Still more expensive than in the states, but hey, that's just the way it is.

Anyway, I saw several reviews on you tube. Two of them had large chips in their blade.

Now, I know that (almost) any blade can chip. But when I already see 2 vids of it on you tube I'm a little worried about it.

Any experiences here? How well does this knife hold up regarding chipping?

Any tips / recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Five foot thick trees and some smaller ones later, and no chips. It will dull slightly but not much.

I have beat the hell out of my Ka Bar Large Bowie and it's still running strong. No problems at all.

It really got a workout when I was adding onto my house. Spare 2X4's all over the place that needed to be wailed on. :)

Thanks for the replies.

Never considered the BK9 before, so will take a look at it today.

(I red one review so far, and the 'shock' you get through the handle when chopping concerns me a little to be honest)
