Both of these knives are great, but which do YOU prefer? The SP-10 has more weight to it, but it packs more of a punch. Both are 1095 steel and can rust pretty easily, but Break Free should protect them if applied before an outing.

I've seen the reviews by Nutnfancy on YouTube and would like to know your preference.

Also, which is more apt to rust, 1095 or Cold Steel's SK-5? The old Carbon V has been replaced in many blades by SK-5. How good are both of these steels?

The Kabar is actually 1085 steel, not that it really makes a difference. 1095, 1085, SK-5, no one of them is more prone to rust than the others. Almost every knife that I own is 1095 or 1085 and I don't have any rust issues. I wipe them down when I'm done using them and that's it.

I don't own the KaBar large heavy .... but i do own the Marine Raider Bowie. It is one awesome hunk of steel. The point drew blood the first time i touched it. It is like a needle sharp. I have used mine to featherstick, baton through wood, chop wood & penetrate wood. It excells at all of them, hell, I have even prepared food with it. It is 1/4" thick. I had to sharpen mine to get it to shave hair & paper. After i feathersticked, chopped wood, batoned it through wood, it still shaved hair. IMO, you probably can not go wrong with either one. The Spec-Plus series rocks. The sheath is also good, though i had to put some neatsfoot oil on the leather, it was too dry.
