I think it's safe to say that everyone here likes Beckers.
Beckers are amazing blades in every way, but the Becker line is missing a machete.
So basically what I'm getting at is that if you need or want a machete, then I urge you to take a look at the Ka-Bar parangatang. I don't think it gets nearly the amount of attention it deserves.

Gee, I'm not sure how the BK4 Machax and BK6 Patrol Machete will take to strangers.

And when the BK21? Kukri is released, watch out!, cuz the chips will be flying!

Yea, I've got the Parangatang, BK-4, and BK-6. (Wish the BK-6 was still in production)

I think the Parangatang's blade shape and design is just awesome! Really. I love it.

However........... the handles just plain suck. I have many complaints about the shape and compared to a Becker handles........ it's just inferior. No two ways about it.

With a few mods though, it could be a fantastic blade. I plan to make some newly designed micarta scales for mine and think I can really fix the problem.

Too bad they won't just put Ethan's handle on that bad boy! :D

Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Becker handles, on that blade?
Take my money, please!!!

Even Upsized versions of the tweener handles on the Parangatang would make me very happy. Whats weird to me, is that on the Jab Potbelly, the handles feel much nicer to me, probably because of the diffrence in stock thickness on the tang. Where on the thinner tang the shape of the handle feels like it digs. Decent thicknes liners would probably help alot, although I think what Todd did to Murphys Zombostro cleaver is a great way to go.

I agree the Parangatang is a sweet blade, but the handle is terrible. One of these days I will put my own design micarta handle on it so that it will feel right in my hand.

You mean you plan on making 2 set of these handles right my friend????
oh yea I didn't forget about the other thing we talked about either, I got stuck on some crazy mandatory OT and haven't been able to get to the post but it will be coming your way soon.

great knife

great handles (if you don't like them, you're doing it wrong)

good stuff

One thing I like about the Parangatang is its stats. It's the same overall length as the BK6, and it's made in America. I take that as a sign that sometime in the next few years, the BK6 might come back into regular production again.
