KA-BAR replacement sheath

I just found my 25 year old 7" KA-BAR fighter in the attic . There's just a little surface rust on the guard. The sheath is lost and I'd like to replace it. Should I get the leather or try the synthetic shown here. Pros/cons of each? I've never had a synthetic. I'm thinking it would be noisy. It'll be a hunting camp utility knife.

I've owned both and personally prefer the synthetic. However it's really a preference. The only real downside to leather is possible water damage. With that being said, they are very tough so I wouldn't worry about it that much unless you'll be out in the rain a lot, ect.

As far as Kydex sheaths go its one of the best productions ones made specifically for that knife and would recomend it whole heartedly. Sometimes Kydex can leave scuffs on the coat of the blade but, this can easily be remedied with a light coating of oil.

Considering it is not that expensive I would say try it out, I think the only way you'll be disapointed is if you discover you strongly dislike kydex.
