Just picked up a ka-bar "series v limited edition", cannot find any reference to it on the net, anybody know anything about it. It was pretty inexpensive (and made in china)...
Thanks

well, the thing came in a ka-bar box with paperwork, bought it on sale at big 5 sports....looks like it's really a ka-bar (for what thats worth), nobody has heard or seen these?..(bought it yesterday)

It was on sale for <$20. seems to lock up tight, not sure about the steel tho, came not real sharp, used it a bit last night, touched it up today and it seems reasonably sharp..we will see if it holds.

J.D.: where did you hear about them? I'll probably do some exhastive review, but it's curious that the internet or ka-bar's site makes no mention of them...

I believe these "Limited Edition" Ka-Bar knives are exclusive to Big 5 Sporting goods.
I bought the XV (8.5" overall with a 3.75" blade) and XVII (7.5" overall with a 3.25" blade) both for less than $20 ea., they would each be an excellent folding blade for twice the price. Very solid lock up, no blade-play or wobble at all on either blade, both came well sharpened, and both came with "KA-BAR Knives, Inc. Warranty & Registration" paperwork.

the only real drawback I found was the edges of the deployment hole cutout was nusually sharp edged, It wasn't quite sharp enough to cut my thumb while deploying, but I still felt the need to file it down to a more comfortable "dullness"
