Hey guys, im new here. I have a strange obsession with my USMC Ka-bar that many people don't understand. Anyhow, I am new to knives and need help on sharpening my beloved Ka-bar.

I have a Lansky Deluxe knife sharpening kit. It has 5 hones ranging from extra coarse to extra fine. I'm having trouble keeping the end of the blade sharp, however the middle non-serrated part of the blade gets RAZOR sharp. Do you have any suggestions to help with sharpening the tip of my kabar blade? Any help would be much appreciated! Semper fi - Animal

AnmlMother-- it might have something to do with the way your sharpener clamps to the blade. Do you have to move the lansky clamp to different positions along the blade to sharpen the blade, or do you leave it in one place? One trick is to use a magic marker on the edge so that you can see where the sharpener is actually hitting the blade. You might also want to check out Joe Talmadge's excellent sharpening FAQ.

Thanks alot! I'll work with the clamp and see what I can figure out.. As far as the marker goes, NICE idea. I never thought of that, and probably never would..

Thanks alot, Semper Fi - Animal
