I saw a Ka-Bar slipjoint made in the 80's that piqued my interest. I was wondering what the quality was like, who made them for Ka-Bar, overall impressions? My expectations aren't too high but I was hoping they are decent.

Rob,

I only own one, a trapper with a synthetic handle with a bone type jigging. Feels like rubber and it is brown. Nice and grippy.

Nice knife, both blades have excellent action. I would say much better than decent using the one I have as an example.

Most Ka-Bar slipjoints that I have purchased and handled look like they were made by Camillus. I have a swell end jack marked Ka-Bar but I believe to have been made by Queen. All the doghead club knives were made by Queen, at least that is what I have read. I am not sure if Ka-Bar made any of their own slippies.

Thanks for info, gentlemen. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one after seeing what you guys said. I will throw up a picture after it arrives.

Gus was correct. More than decent for sure. Some kind of stainless, about 3 3/4 inches. Not very sharp but I can work on that. And the best part of course is that it is "yeller" and its got a "dawg noggin" on it.

One of my favorite small slippies is a Ka Bar, I think made mid-eighties but not sure. It is a one handed opener in briar burl and was supposed to be a limited edition.
