I have found a ka bar style knife that the owner says is ww2 issue. It has pal on one side and USMC on the other side of the blade it come with a leather sheath needs a litle cleaning up. Does anyone know anything about this knife style and what it might be worth, I know it would fix in my collection so I know it is worth that. thanks Mike

Mr. Mike,

A sketch of your knife is shown on page 92 of M.H.Coles U.S. Military Knives Vol. III.

Per your description, this is the USMC version of the U.S.Navy MKII (a.k.a. Ka-Bar). The sheath should be marked either "Pal Blade co.", or "U.S.N." Value according to Levine's Guide IV is about $120 in good condition (with "PAL Blade Co." sheath); or, $95 with other more standard leather sheath. Somewhat more if in excellent (unsharpened), or, Mint condition. As with most other antique collectables value is very affected by condition.

Enjoy your knife.
