Ka-bar switch blade

Found a Ka-bar switchblade in my fathers old army stuff. He was a Col. in WW2. Don't know anything about this knife except it has deep yellow handle and says Ka-bar on base of blade. Its in great shape and works! Can anyone give me any info on this please. Thanks, Dave
 
I know they made an auto and there were rumors of a switchblade but I personally never laid eyes on one.
