Has the Leather Handled Plain Edge Tanto gone away?
I looked for one and most dealer sites say discontinued.

And of course I don't see it on the Ka-Bar website either.

Always liked the looks of that knife.

I have a black serrated edge one form many years ago and it has served me well. But I like the leather handles.

I would love to have my D2 extreme in a plain edge with a leather handle too.
But sadly, I realize I am in the minority, and that will never happen.

LV,

I want a fullsize tanto F/U with a plain edge with the kraton handle. Then I'll strip the coating and trim off the top guard like I did with my USMC and Navy MK1.

A D2 extreme plain edge would be cool too.

I just did a search for Tanto on Ka-Bar's website. Found three USMC style Tanto's, but non of them had stacked leather handles. Short black Tanto, Serrated, Black Ka-bar Tanto (serrated), and Short Black Tanto (plain edge). Looks to me as though the stacked leather handled version are no longer being made.

Yeah, it looks to be discontinued.

Too bad really.

I did not realize until today that the 1264 leather Tanto is considerably different in design than my 1245.
I thought it was just the leather handle instead of Kraton, and plain edge instead of partially serated.
But I see the 1264 does not have the false grind on the spine like the 1245 has. This makes me happy.
My 1245 did ok as a camp knife. But it chews batons up quickly. I think with the thicker spine, leather handle, and plain edge this will make a nice all round knife. And if that was not enough, it looks like the sheath is different too. With good retention and only one snap.

How did I miss the this knife?
