Recently i came across a documentary of deadliest warrior where the comparison of Ka-bar USMC and Nepali Khukuri was shown? Now whats your pick? Khukuri is made from 5160 spring steel? Why or why not modern Ka-Bar design is better than khukuri design etc? What should I keep in my camping bag?

Two completely different things. What do you want, chopper or utilitarian knife?
I would personally choose Ka-Bar, but that's just me..

I want overall utility, Khukuri seems to me unbalanced but it has thick blade and full tang and obviously more durable.....but Ka-Bar( preferably 1271 fighter then USMC) has modern design keeping in mind all aspects....

Being deadly and scaring others?? No....Fighting and self Defence...Definitely Yes (Indian forests are full of Muggers and Bears)....Utility, all the times

depends what you're doing while you're camping... these two pieces are so different in their design and application that i can't even imagine how they would compare them in any way shape or form. the only thing they have in common is that they are cutlery and issued by a military to a fighting force... but so are the swiss army knife and the gerber multitool and it's about as fair a comparison to judge either of these against the other two as it is to compare them to one another. My kukuri is massive and can take off a 2" hardwood branch easily with one stroke, but i would have a hard time filetting a fish with it. see what i mean? in my own camping gear i actually carry my USMC Ka-Bar packed away, because its a proven performer and i know i don't have to worry about it. it will do almost any job you need and come out the other side retatively unscathed minus a few scratches and dings here and there.

sorry for being so long winded

rustyrazor, you just need a bit more practice....:D
Speaking from experience, I would go with the khukuri. It makes a better wood chopper than the kabar and it comes with two small knives to handle the smaller tasks. But whats a few more ounces? Carry Both.;) :p

Never knew one could filet with a khukuri! Now I kinda want to try. :)
Can I get that recipe?

Disclaimer: That's not me. It's a customer of HI who definitely knows his way around a kitchen and how to use a khukuri in it.
I guess that would make it a cookuri....:D
