i recently got a ka bar bk-10 and the warranty info is kind of vague. what exactly does this warranty cover? if i use the 10 as a pry bar will this void the warranty? what if i leave my knife buried in the ocean in a secret hiding place and it rusts considerably where the blade loses 25% of it's steel? under what circumstances will they give me a new one? I saw no registration card anywhere in my box do i need to register this heavy weaponry?

Why the fascination with using knives as a pry bar? You have mentioned it on a lot of posts now. If you reside in a place with bars/locked doors, its probably for your and others protection, so your best not PRYING anything open with any knife. If still in doubt just buy a Pry bar - then problem solved!

Simple solution. Exercise common sense and use the BK10 as a knife. Spend $5 at Harbor Freight and buy a pry bar for prying. If a situation gets so dire that you absolutely have to substitute the 10 for a pry bar, the price of the knife is the least of your worries.

Seems clear to me...

LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY
KA-BAR Knives, Inc. (the "Company") warrants, to the original purchaser of the knife only, that this knife will be free from defects in material and craftsmanship under normal use and maintenance for the lifetime of the original purchaser. This Limited Warranty does not apply to any failure of, defect in, or damage to the knife caused by normal wear and tear or by improper use, including batoning with or throwing the knife, using the blades as a can opener, chisel, pry bar, screwdriver, digging tool, or for any heavy work for which the knife was not designed.
If the knife fails to satisfy this Limited Warranty, the Company will repair or replace the knife or substitute a knife of comparable value, at the Company's option, and such repair, replacement or substitution shall constitute the sole remedy for any failure of the knife to satisfy this Limited Warranty or any implied warranty (ies) of the Company. In order to have a Limited Warranty claim evaluated by the Company, you must return the knife, at your own expense and risk, to KA-BAR Knives, Inc., at 200 Homer Street, Olean, NY 14760, attention Customer Service Department. Please include with the returned knife a brief written description of any claimed defect(s) in or failure(s) of the knife. Any returned knife determined by the Company to not be eligible for repair, replacement or substitution under the terms of the Limited Warranty will be returned to the Owner.

I am pretty sure that your previous threads Voided the warranty already.

But just incase there is a small chance you are maybe slightly even a teeny tiny bit sorta maybe almost could be kinda serious, I will answer the question. But myself and everyone else on the forum are pretty sure you are just being full of it with all these insane threads and the fact that you want to argue and refuse to listen to anything anyone says.

No need to fill out a warranty. KaBar does not require it.

Go here and read all the warrant info for yourself.

you guys are missing the point. the bk2/10 is supposed to be a beastly knife that can handle the apocalypse. why would i want to carry a pry bar around me all the time when i have my trusted bk2/10 with me? there would be too much bulk.

Here is some advice for you: Sell the Beckers and use the cash to buy some Mantis knives. More up your alley.

i was kind of mislead about this knife. anybody knows that a bushcraft knife should be able to baton. batoning and bushcrafting go hand in hand. why is it this knife is marketed as bushcraft when batoning voids the warranyt?!

I have seen batoning breaks covered in the past, but Ka-Bar looks at each situation on a case-by-case basis.
Some morons have interpreted batoning as "I can hit the back of my knife with a steel hammer, and it'll be covered."
It's for those folks that the clause in question exists in the warranty.

Also, some common sense should be applied with regard to conditions. I wouldn't try to baton a blade through frozen mesquite, for instance.

What bushcraft apocalypse are you referring to?
What prying are you going to do while bushcrafting?
What batoning are you going to do during the apocalypse?

Um...... It can baton. Just fine in fact.

The warranty doesn't cover abuse. If your knife fails under normal use, even batonning, there is a good chance Kabar will replace it as long as you are nice about it. I have seen it done a few times now. But the chance of it breaking are very slim.

And removing the coating voids the warranty. Who gives a &@%#? I don't. I strip and beat the crap out of every Becker knife I own. And Trust me, I own a few for sure.

Just relax, go use your knife and enjoy it. A lot of your questios will be answered with a little dirt time and you will then see first hand what this knife is actually capable of.

Quit trying to find problems that don't even exist. In my opion, Beckers are some of the very best knives on the market, at a fantastic price, with great feel in the hand, and a great reputation.

Let's just take a few deep breaths and when the sun comes up, get out and use that bk-10 like there's no tomorrow!

Your gonna love it! If you don't, I'll be happy to work out a trade for a BK-2 for you or someone else will buy it from you in a heart beat.

Good Luck!

At Jeff Randall's field survival class, I opened a can of beans with this 16, thus the coating wear at the tip.
I also batoned it through a LOT of wood. Guess that pesky warranty is voided. Drat. Oh look! Stock scales! :D
