Picked one up the other day & used it today. I like it. Blade is between 3/16" & 1/4" thick, 6 1/2" long & 2 3/8" wide at its widest point. I did not think i would like the little "hook" in the handle gromet area of the handle, but i do. It works well for retention while chopping. It batoned well, it chopped well & after i batoned 3 log chunks & chopped through some VERY HARD black walnut, it was only slightly duller than when i started. It is NOT made in the USA. :grumpy: But would probably cost more than most would be willing to pay if it was. I like thick, wide blades. This is the widest blade of any of mine. This knife is worth what i paid.
For size comparison. BK11 & BK14.
Sheath has 2 retention snaps, which is good, but it will flop over sideways if the top one is not secured. Also, it has a swivel, yeah---but the darn thing don't/won't swivel when top snap is secured. A definate sheath oversight, to be sure !!!
As you can see, there was no damage to the blade at all. I was wailing on it pretty good & had to REALLY chop hard to make it through that Black Walnut. I am impressed so far for what i paid. As always, i will update my thread if any failures occur in the future.
