Ka-bar

The Ka-bar brand is a very good knife for the money. In fact, I'm picking up a USMC Ka-bar this friday for my next camping trip.

To me the 1095 steel handles a bit like AUS6M on the CRKT stuff. Won't hold the greatest edge by a long shot and the edge does tend to fold under hard use..however...it does take a fairly good edge and for the price not too many are gonna cry if it gets lost, abused or anything else like that.

My friend, aXed on forums, had a Kraton handled USMC for our last camping trip and the knife served it's purpose very well. It was used to hack, pry rocks, pry up a 7-8lb griddle and cut rope. Besides the rope cutting that thing was pretty much abused but it held up well.

This is exactly what I'm buying my Ka-bar for. My BM nimravus will handle some of the finer cutting stuff...the rest I'll leave for the Ka-bar.

One thing that many, including myself, do not like about it..is that it has a stick tang...this will definitely compromise harder use of the knife...
