I love to find neat old pocket knives that are well used. KABAR and Colonial are my weakness. I rarely buy any other old knives.
This one was on Ebay. No one was bidding, I believe because of the horrible sharpening job someone did.
I got it for $5.99, no one bid against me. Let the crazy guy have it I can hear them saying behind their computers and phones. Thank you gentlemen.
Sure my knives are a collection but I buy them to use. I also really enjoy fixing a knife. Returning it to service.
So it looks like someone sharpened this on some type of electric sander or grinder. They only did it to one side of each blade. Kind of turning it into a chisel grind. The small blades tip was really messed up and the edge was so thin it was basically a wire edge that moved back and forth on a sharpening stone.
I had to make the small blade smaller but I am happy with it. I was also trying to retain as much of the old patina as possible. All the patina is old, I didn't add to it at all.
The channels the blades fit in were so full of denim pocket lint that the blades had to cut themselves places to fit.
But its all fixed up now. Blades fixed and sharpened. Cleaned and oiled.
And most importantly...Its back in someones pocket. Mine.
Before Pictures.
