KaBar 1117 cord wrap.

I did one about a week ago. It's double layered and looks terrible but feels good. I'm going to have to trim the mouth of the sheath a little.

Not bad. Function trumps form in my book. The Eskabar lends itself to handsome cord wraps. This one and the Necker are more of a challenge. Wonder if they'll make scales or if the factory sheath will even work for that. Love my Eskabar, but it collected dust until until I got comfortable slabs on it. Do the eyelets match up with the TDI clip? 8" is kind of long for for a neck knife. I read it's only an 1/8" (.125) thick. Can you flex the blade?

I feel teased when I see new goods I can't buy. Probably better that way. Keeps me from impulse buying and someone else gets to be the guinea pig. The stickers already on the boxes makes me think it won't be too long.

Seems like knives are like women. I spend half my life chasing and the other half waiting. At least this one looks worth the wait ;)

Cutting down tweener scales is a doable mod. They aren't that far off. Could stipple the zytel after the shaping is done to leave an even finish. Would have to do a little work on the sheath to go that road though. Seems like retention would still be okay. I ordered some G10 instead. Just be easier to cut and shape some from blanks and not have to alter the sheath.

Oh snap! I'm gonna have to give this a shot.

i'd love too do g10 but no tools too shape it with and I suck at such thinks lol!!

A functional (though perhaps less than ideal) fit that wouldn't require altering the sheath could also be worked with Eskabar scales.

Good thing I have an extra pair of both laying around. I'll have to play with each and see which I'd like better.

If I still had my extra set of 14 scales I'd do a pair. Here's a crude mock up. With more careful attention to centering it could actually look decent.

This was a dirty job, cut down the scales of a dust-collector-un-resealable-can-never-got-sharp ontario kerambit; got everything together with epoxy and, as it has to be sanded, finish sanding the entire knife, probably a forced patina is the next step.

Cool knife for MODs, the handle is way to short to be a dependable knife, just for reference is as long as the izula so I add the mini-lanyard;

self defense, easy concealable, big blade, certainly not for injure the attacker and make him go away; if you pull out this piece have in mind that legal repercussions will come,

do not get me wrong, if my family is in danger I will stab anyone, if I am alone, will cooperate and go home,

I cannot see the image.

Anyone done some custom scales to their 1117?? Got one on order and would like to see some pics for ideas. Any custom work done to one would be appreciated. :cool: really interested in knowing what the tweener scales look like modded as I have a unused set.
