kabar 1213 good for hiking??

I don't often take it with me but I have tested mine and put it through it's paces. It's certainly not fragile or delicate. It's not balanced well for chopping and they don't hold up well to serious batoning but for carving and making fuzz sticks they do well. They also are fine for splitting small sticks for making kindling, probably an inch or less shouldn't be a problem. A better choice would be something from the becker line like a BK7.

If you do get one, trimming off the spine side of the guard lets you choke up on it nicely. Huge improvement I think.
