dear god man, be serious.

Save and buy a gun with lots of ammo. If you really want a "fighting knife" get the 1217.

Say what? A Land War in the US is not a good reason to buy a knife. If you want a good all purpose utility knife, fine, but for a land war????

Give him a break....
he's from NYC.....like the east coast Frisco.....
let him take his knife to a gun fight.....
gun=1 , knife=0......

OK- I deserve it. All donr with the cliche's?
I just wanted an opinion on serated or non serated, for a soldier even though I'm past the legal draft age.

Gun does not always = a win I know of some cases were knife won over gun. Get both gun and knife as for the kabar get 1217. What is in my night stand Taurus pt 92 loaded with Winchester ranger t 124gr +p, an EK model 3, and my z2 surefire.

New York City? Why, isn't that where my salsa came from? Sorry... I am from Brooklyn, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Get the 1217... super piece of history - which can still save your bacon. Probably a lot easier to legally buy/own there than a gun of any kind (Rudy didn't help matters!). Of course, I have lived outside Birmingham, AL for eons, so I am spoiled. I have several KaBars, including my Dad's USN from WWII. I also have a few revolvers, to the high capacity bottom-feeder chagrin of my range-friends. The also chide me to buy a black carbine - AR or AK. I have a .45 Colt levergun that holds 12+1 rounds - my idea of an 'assault rifle' for protection should the fecal matter impact the air movement device.

Google Smokey Mountain Knife Works - they regularly have sales - I picked up a pair at a good price there.

Keep us informed.
