I just got my BK-2 knife and I must say that it is an excellent heavy duty knife and at an excellent price.

What I plan to do here is make the knife into my ultimate survival package by doing some modifications and additions to the knife and sheath. I will post the progress here so you all can see what I have done and what you think.

First the sheath.
I think the sheath is excellent and the fit and finish is first rate. I think that the stock belt loop is too long and soft. I purchased an Esee RC-5 Molle back and PSK pouch and decided to change out the factory belt strap and add the pouch.
Now, it is not a perfect fit but with a little work here is what I came up with. A word of caution if you use the top hole on the sheath it makes the knife way too tight in the sheath and very difficult to remove so I used the second hole. I also had to zip tie thru the bottom holes to lock it together good put it under the strap so it would not rub on me.. I think it works pretty good and makes the package alot more useful.

Next will be knife modifications which I am going to keep to myself for now but will post step by step modifications as I do them.

ooh, that's pretty awesome.

didn't know about the ESEE MOLLE... where's a good place to score those? MMM. nifty.

eseeknives.com if you get them both there is a $5.00 discount. It took awhile for them to deliver because they are made for them. Took about two months for mine but they may have them in stock now.

Very nice indeed! Just curious... You say the fit wasn't exact. What in particular wasn't exact?

Kabar sheath comes to a point and RC-5 is more rounded so the last two holes near the tip on the molle back did not line up with the screw holes so I had to zip tie them. I will try to post pics later tonight. It is a really solid rig once together.

Gotcha... thanks!

Sorry fellas, I been making sheaths all day. I like the looks of that setup, I wonder if they offer OD, I really don't like black so much, I'm more of an earthtones kinda guy.

I do like the front pouch option, and honestly, if my factory sheath didn't dull the hell outta my knife, I would build a platform for it, but damn, I make it uber sharp, sheath it a few times, and it won't take hair off.

YMMV

Dang Moose, I figured you would just like yell at it or something and it would knock that crap off. Do like the one guy did, take a sawzall blade to it and give it a little room.

Actually, I use files, but even though I have removed some of the offending plastic, it still dulls it. I really want to like the stock sheath, but I just can't abide a sheath that dulls a knife.

I will try yelling at it and tell it to knock that crap off. Hold on.

Nope, didn't listen, now, I will punish it, severely. Hold on.

Nope didn't work either, this one tuff cookie. Oh well, until I get another leather sheath made, it will just continue to be dull.

By the way, my idea of dull is that it is not hair popping sharp. I can still push cut paper, but I likes ma blades scary sharp. Ask NothingCoherent, he just got one of my moras.

shaving sharp, this is an ideal set-up you have. Great looking knife with a minimum of items that will keep you safe in case you get a little bewildered for awhile out playing . . . :)
Nice package & nice knife.
Be safe.
