Marty Simon (oldman/Marty) just posted an update on the new KaBar Becker line over in the W&SS forum. I thought that some members here who don't frequent that forum might be interested.

Hey Guys,
I talked with my good friend Ethan Becker last night and he gave me an update on his knife line. Ka-Bar is making them and they will be debuting some new models in January, 2008 at the Shot show. One in particular that sounds really good is a new neck knife made of both carbon steel and stainless with an injection molded case. Anyway, the older models won't be available for a while yet but they are doing their best to get the line up and running. If I get any other info I will post it here.

Anyone with anything else to add, please do so! Ethan? Phil? :D

That implies a laminate steel to me, so does that mean "made in Japan"?

I don't have a clue other than what was posted. You know how tight-lipped manufacturers and designers can be about plans.

IF... that meant a bi-metal blade then there are several ways I can see that going (have no idea of costs or logistics):

1. Finished laminate blades imported from Japan
2. Raw laminate blanks imported from Japan
3. billet laminate stock being imported from Japan
4. A domestic source is being considered for bladestock.
5. The "blurb" actually meant two seperate steel offerings, not a bi-metal laminate.

I think we will just have to wait until January unless someone comes along in the meantime and gives us authoritative enlightenment.

Ethan?

I took it that they would be offered with the option of steel...like ontario's rats are offered in d2 or 1095.

Ether way this is good news and can't wait till these hit the market.
