It was a bear, a great big mother of a bear......

Actually, if I attributed this knife to a land animal, it'd be something like a wolverine. Big, mean, indomitable, ornery sumbitch. In the fishy kingdom, it'd be a Goliath Tiger fish. Tear chunks outa 14' crocs. Yeah, baby.

Experts recommend not playing "Ive got your nose" with this particular creature.

Now that I have your attention......

----- INTERMISSION -----

Today was nicer outside then it's been for awhile, and I wanted to take the BK2 out, show it a good time....you know the drill.

Got myself a 30" 2x4

Batoning will be on today's menu...

As you could see the above 2 photos, there's a damn knot in the 2x4 that I hammered like crazy to try and get the Becker though. I tried real hard like.....

Well screw it, taking a different approach

dsc0017ky.jpg

dsc0021kg.jpg

Still curling well....I call em, fugly curls.
dsc0027bc.jpg

Little chopping action - BK2 is not ideal for chopping, as you know. But it certainly gets the job done.
dsc0032ym.jpg

Today is the letter K... C'mon, work with me.
dsc0036ul.jpg

slop chop
dsc0038cx.jpg

Split more shit
dsc0041ch.jpg

knot was no challenge this time 'round. BK2 laughed, resistance was surely futile.
dsc0042vr.jpg

BK2 made my baton wimper 'n whine
dsc0044rf.jpg

Batoning through another piece of the knot, it drove the 2 x 4 into the ground. I normally use a 2x6 laying there, but the hammering was hurting my hears. Wah.
dsc0049vk.jpg

Not so tuff without your friends......
dsc0050w.jpg

Uhmm...... ode to gymnastics ??
dsc0051y.jpg

dsc0054sh.jpg

Oops. Guess I didn't screw the handle tight enough.
dsc0057dj.jpg

Ok, so beer goggles may be necessary...

Wow, great pictures and very kind of you to give your 2 a little outside time, that thing gets sad when you keep it in the drawer too much.

Processed more of the 2 x 4 today. Thought I'd share. Also found a new and currently favorite baton too.

Death to knotty...
dsc0003as.jpg

I almost feel sorry for it at this point...
dsc0010zf.jpg

Got creative. Not so easy with small, easily broken, sticks and a 1/4" thick blade.
dsc0012ax.jpg

Voodoo sticks. Laugh if you want, feel the curse!

As I was cleaning the bark of the handle part of my new baton, I thought hey this stuff might be great for starting fires. At the very least make myself a Carrot top dolly.
dsc0014zf.jpg

Makes ya hungry don't it....
dsc0017gk.jpg

It's also full of sap crap...
dsc0036qi.jpg

Burn baby burn...
dsc0037hi.jpg

Yes, either it was too damp still or it's not the best fire starting material. Or I suck. Had to use a cotton ball w/ vaseline
dsc0046j.jpg

Stay with me! Breathe!
dsc0048rc.jpg

Every time I added the bark, the flames died out. Curse you foul wood!
dsc0052nw.jpg

....And back to batoning. Nice pile huh ?
